T-Top
A T-top is a type of metal frame that can be attached to a centre console boat with a hardtop also attached. The major reason why a T-top is added to a boat is to give shade at a standing height to the boat user, it is particularly useful for fishers who need to be on their feet and move around casting lines for fishing.
Universal Boat T-top

A universal T-top is a type of T-top that has been carefully designed to fit with a wide range of the modern boat. The traditional T-top usually have a width problem as there is already a fixed-width design for the boat, and it is normally made for a particular boat model, but in contrast, the universal boat T-top fits a wide range of boat models and options. They are adjustable in size, width etc. even with the feature of adjustability it is not less strong. The flexibility is one of the major reason why the universal boat T-top is a much better option for your boat. For boats that made many years back, the T-top might not work for them as they lack the current specification needed by the universal boat T-top, for this kind of boats a custom made T-top is a better option.
Can I add a T-top to my boat?
It is worth it if you add a T-top to your boat, this gives you more room for shade, storage space, and a generally more relaxing look to your boat. A T-top can be added to any centre-console boat since it fits the specification.
Advantage of adding a boat T-top
• The primary reason is the provision of shade, a T-top allows you to stand out during the day even with the blazing sun, like the T-top shades you from the heat of the sun.
• It gives room for more storage of gears like the fishing rods, and some other equipment.
• It offers support while standing as the water gets swirly, it can function as a grab rail.
• It gives space for attachment of high location needed equipment like antenna, light etc.
• A more appealing look of the boat and an increase in overall value.
The disadvantage of adding a boat T-top
• Adding T-top increases the weight of the boat, increased weight can affect the boat if it is not built for it.
• A slight reduction of top speed as a result of increased weight.
• Increased expenses of maintenance and fixing fee.
The material used for making the T-top is also important, all boat T-tops are made of metal but a strong form of T-top that is also durable is the 6061 T6 aluminium alloy. Asides from the 6061- T6 aluminium, other forms of materials is 6063 aluminium and stainless steel. Each of these materials has its advantages and disadvantages, the stainless steel is the least favourable option, although it is strong but can be very heavy.
