Bow rails
The bow is one of the numerous parts of a ship, it is the forward portion of the hull. The bow is usually the part of a ship that is most forward. The bow is very important in a ship as it is created to allow the easy passage of the ship in the water. The shape of the bow determine the speed of the ship while moving, ships are made in streamlined shapes. The streamlined shapes are designed to allow the ship to offer resistance against the force of water, it is often tall enough to prevent water from washing over it.
Types of Bow
The common shape of the bow is V-like, to facilitate efficient movement in the water, although there are different shapes different from the V-shape depending on how the ship is built and the functionality of the ship. Common examples of bow design in ships are:
• Straight-stem bow
• Plumb bow
• Raked bow
• Flared bow
• Clipper bow
• Bulbous bow
• Inverted bow
• Ram bow
• High-chin spoon bow
• Low-chin bow
Bow rail
As the name implies, the railing added to the bow design is referred to as bow rail. The major aim of a bow rail is to add a protective feature to a ship. The railing ensures the easy and safe movement of people aboard a ship. You can think of the bow rail as the protective rail added to the open space of a storey building or the railing of a staircase. They all have one thing in common, and that is to offer protection to prevent people from slipping and falling. The Bow rail curves around all the edges of the bow to offer protection to prevent people from falling or slipping away when moving around on the deck of the ship.

Different Purpose of Bow rail

Aside from the initial and primary purpose of a bow rail, to offer protection. No rule of thumb says it cannot add aesthetical beauty to the ship. The positioning of the bow rail is very much conspicuous and finely detailed touch to it can add immense beauty to your ship. Bow rails are curved and this allows adding a complementing touch to it to have a seamless appearance

Bow rails are typically around the bow, but there are still other parts of a ship that require such protection. Rails found in other positions apart from the bow region are referred to as grab rails. They also offer protection on the ship to prevent slip and falls.

Materials of production

As these rails are used for support and are also required to be strong, bow rails are or can be made from strong materials like stainless steel or aluminium as these two are strong and durable products. It also gives room for creating sleek-looking rails.
